Sickness Policy

At Riverside Nursery we follow the Health Protection Agency guidelines related to sickness.

To this effect we have developed a number of policies that are approved by OFSTED, and are constantly reviewed to ensure that we are always up to date.

Sickness

As stated in our Nursery/Parent contract (which is signed by parents/ guardians prior to admission):

Riverside Nursery cannot under take the care of sick children. It is essential that the nursery is informed of any child illnesses, sickness or health problems prior to the child being brought into nursery for their normal day of attendance. We will then consider each case strictly on an individual basis.

In the interests of all of our other children and our staff, it will be necessary to exclude any child who has been diagnosed with certain contagious diseases and illnesses. This exclusion will remain in force until the condition has passed and the child has returned to full health.

The nursery follows the current guidelines as stated by the Health Protection Agency. A comprehensive list of these illnesses is available for all parents/guardians to view on a poster in the main corridor. There is another copy in the Nursery office.

Any child suffering with vomiting and diarrhoea must be kept at home until 48 hours after the LAST bout of vomiting or diarrhoea.
