Let us tell you about a little warrior from our nursery – Jack.
He was recently diagnosed with kidney cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. So far he has had surgery to remove a tumour, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. In total, Jack will have 34 weeks of chemotherapy to get him back to full health. The last round of his chemotherapy will be in March 2018. Despite this, he’s still a very active and happy three-year-old that’s obsessed with dinosaurs and motorbikes.
We’re counting down the days until he gets to ring the end of treatment bell at the children’s hospital in Manchester. We’re also aiming to raise as much money as we can for a local charity called ‘Milly’s Smiles’ that supports the families of children who have been diagnosed with cancer. They have been a great support to Jack’s mummy and daddy after his diagnosis. This month we have a few fun fundraising activities at Riverside.
On the 22nd of October, some the staff from our nursery will be taking part in a sponsored walk, which we hope will raise lots of money for Milly’s Smiles. We have sponsorship forms at the reception desk for anyone that wishes to show their support.
Blackburn Rovers have also donated a football that the whole team signed – it even has a certificate of authenticity! The football will be auctioned to raise additional funds for the children’s cancer charity. The action will close at midday on the 27th of October, so there’s plenty of time to place a bid!
If you want to try your luck and raise some pennies then please call the nursery on 01254 695777 or email Leanne@Riversidenursery.info.
Every penny counts! Your support is truly appreciated by us all.
